PT Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Indonesia supports BPOM Net-Zero Carbon Programme

As one of the commitments to realizing PT Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Indonesia's (MTID) code of ethics towards the environment and safety, MTID is taking concrete steps to reduce the impact of activities on the natural environment while preserving the environment in society. One of them is by participating in the Net-Zero Carbon Program organized by the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) on October 31, 2023, at the Angke Kapuk Nature Tourism Park (TWAAK), Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Jakarta.

MTID with 8 associations and other 105 drug and food industries support the BPOM Net-Zero Carbon Program by symbolically planting mangrove trees in the TWAAK area, PIK, Jakarta. Planting of mangrove trees will begin in 2023 for the next 5 years. Not only that, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between BPOM and business actors and managers of the TWAAK area and PIK Mangrove Ecotourism.

This mangrove planting is concrete evidence of the commitment of BPOM and stakeholders to support reducing carbon emissions in Jakarta. In this case, BPOM and the drug and food industry must also care about the environment because the drug and food industries are one of the contributors that contribute to waste in the environment.

This mangrove ecosystem conservation activity by BPOM will be recorded in the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as the first Net Zero Carbon Emission program through Mangrove Planting with Collaborating Drug and Food Industries.

MTID is very proud to be able to participate in this environmental conservation program and is committed to continuing to have a positive impact on the environment.

The International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group (IPMG) and several of its members – AstraZeneca Indonesia, Glaxo Wellcome Indonesia (GSK), Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Indonesia, Otsuka Indonesia, and Pfizer Indonesia – realize the commitment to reducing environmental degradation rate by participating in the partnership initiated by the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) to plant mangrove. The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to accelerate the achievement of Indonesia’s Net Zero Carbon target by 2060. IPMG Board Member-cum-Industrial Policy Taskforce Person in Charge Idham Hamza said that as a research and development-based foreign companies association, the IPMG realizes that survival and health are closely related to the condition of the planet.
